Oberhaus Leads D in 30-0 Win

Going into week two the Predators (2-0) had confidence in their defense and wanted to execute on offense. The defense showed up again and came away with a goose egg. Led by #52 Oberhaus (3 pulls, 2 interceptions, and 2 assisted TDs), who read the quarterbacks eyes all night locking down the middle of the field. The Predators had good pressure upfront from #50 Price (3 sacks, 1 safety) and also all the defensive backs contributed in pass defense, knocking down passes and making pulls. #7 Brown was on the receiving end of both of Oberhaus' interception laterals, taking full advantage of both, turning them into long TDs. The Predator defense was only challenged once in the game deep in their territory. State Farm had 1st and goal inside the ten when #42 Clapper intercepted a pass and nearly took it all the way for a score. It was a tremendous effort from the defense, but at times there were Predators out of position and fortunately, State Farm couldn't take advantage. The Predators will need improve in those areas or more talented teams will exploit them.

On offense, the Predators wanted to execute, and they did. #45 Price (10-17, 13o, 1-1), was very comfortable hitting 9 of his first 11 passes. Chipping away at the defense and making crucial throws on third and forth downs, keeping drives alive. #45 Price favorite target on the night was #2 Long (7 rec., 80 yds, 1 TD), who jumped, dived and stretched for his receptions. The Predators also got 40 more yards of passing from their secondary passers. Their other TD came by way of a #42 Clapper run, who started left, then went back right making two defenders miss on his way to the end zone. The Predators feel good about their offensive performance, but want to get better and need to figure out a way to get everyone involved so that they are successful later in the season when they play the top tier teams in the league. Up next, the Predators play Robinson at 9pm next Thursday.
